In the British Fern Gazette 10: 275-280 (1972) M. H. Rickard states that there is a specimen of Woodsia alpina in the herbarium of the British Museum collected by E. F. Linton on Skye in 1886, he says this could be from virtually anywhere on the upland portion of the island.
In August 2001 during a British Bryological Society field trip a clump with 45 fronds was found at Sgurr a' Mhadaidh Ruaidh. Stephen Bungard informed me that he visited the site in 2002 and found an additional clump.
